Police are investigating the robbery of a delivery van in Brighton.

At about 2.45pm on Wednesday (July 12), Sussex Police says a driver was returning to his Ford Transit when he was approached by an unknown man who pushed him to the ground and took his keys.

The offender then drove off in the vehicle, leaving the victim – a man in his 20s – shaken but uninjured.

The incident occurred in Whitecross Street, just off Trafalgar Street, and the van was later found abandoned and was recovered by police.

The suspect is described by police as white, aged 24-25, about 5ft 9ins, with short spiky blonde hair. He was wearing a blue Tshirt.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened. In particular, officers are keen to trace a number of builders who were working nearby and may have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to report it online at www.sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal/ quoting serial 859 of 12/07/.
