In a list of the top 241 sites across the country, published by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA), Sussex only had five attractions listed.

These included Wakehurst (104); Sheffield Park (105), Bodiam Castle (138), Battle Abbey (160) and WWT Arundel (170).

Interestingly, no attractions in Brighton made the list, let alone popular tourist attractions such as Arundel Castle, Drusillas Park, Fishers Farm in Wisborough Green, the Bluebell Railway, or Pooh Corner in Hartfield.
