City property market still bubbling as an average home costs £314,000

The average price of a city home is £314,018, according to the latest Land Registry data for May.

And the price of an average terrace house  - £382,940 – has never been higher.

Official data shows a total of 400 homes - with an aggregate value of £125.6 million - were bought and sold in Brighton and Hove in May.

The detailed breakdown for each type of property sold was:

29 detached homes, with a total value of £14,942,900 and an average price of £515,272. The most expensive - at £1,970,000 - was 13 Tongdean Road, Hove, BN3 6QB;

65 semi-detached homes, with a total value of £26,017,624 and an average price of £394,206. The most expensive - at £1,180,000 - was 5B Powis Grove, Brighton, BN1 3HF;

90 terrace homes, with a total value of £34,464,630 and an average price of £382,940. The most expensive - at £1,780,000 - was 102 Marine Parade, Brighton, BN2 1AT;

216 flats and apartments, with a total value of £50,182,243 and an average price of £232,325. The most expensive - at £610,000 - was Flat 12, Fitzharding House, Marine Parade, Brighton, BN2 1AJ.
