School communities across Brighton and Hove took part in a mass protest against education cuts on Friday.

At least 20 schools were expected to assemble at The Level in Brighton, with another gathering at Victoria Park in Portslade.

Special guests including Caroline Lucas spoke out against the Government’s budget cuts and backed the Save Our Schools campaign.

SOS parent and organiser Alison Ali said: “Our mass assembly offers the chance to witness a powerful coalition in action.

“Parents, pupils, young people, heads, teachers, support staff and politicians are coming together not just to voice their concerns over funding cuts, but also to celebrate the unique bridge of trust that is being built between schools and parents.”
