Chief Superintendent Lisa Bell, divisional commander, visited the Puffin Community Nursery in Carlton Hill which is close to John Street Police Station, to meet the children and staff.

Chief Supt Bell said: "We wanted to recognise the work that the nursery is doing with local children and to say thank you to the staff for their patience for putting up with the disruption and noise while our police station is being renovated.

"The nursery is a bright and welcoming environment and they plan to use the donation to replace their balance bikes, provide a summer awning and help create a nature area."

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of money received by the police for confiscated property.
