Small fire in Kemp Town flat

Firefighters from Brighton and Roedean were called to a flat in Kemp Town this morning (January 9).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 7.30am following reports of a small fire within a second-floor flat in Devonshire Place.

The fire was extinguished and a ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the building.

The fire service said everyone was accounted for, and fire crews left the scene at 8.11am.

One man was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
