Storm Doris hits Brighton and Hove

A severe weather warning is in place until 8pm tonight (February 23) as '˜Storm Doris' brings strong winds and rough seas to the south coast.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency warned residents to stay away from the water’s edge along the coastline in stormy weather, and said ‘don’t underestimate the power of the sea’.

The storm has caused disruption on the rails this morning, with trains running at a maximum speed of 50mph.

The Met Office said gusts of up 70mph can be expected throughout the day along the south coast, and warned of travel disruption, and a risk of damage to trees and buildings.
