Hove Civic Society is making a final push for donations, as it needs just under £4,000 to make its public art project a reality.

Inspired by the Fourth Plinth in London, Hove Plinth is set to exhibit a changing programme of sculpture at King's Esplanade. Major works will be displayed for 12 to 18 months after which some will be moved to permanent sites.

The crowdfunding campaign to meet the cost of the inaugural sculpture (£40,000), will close on Wednesday (June 21), and Hove Civic Society said if it does not reach the target, it will lose the £16,000 pledged by the Arts Council (which counts towards the £36,000 raised).

If the cash is raised, the first artwork set to go on display on Hove Plinth is Constellation by Jonathan Wright.

The crowdfunder has already raised more than £20,000 from 59 supporters, alongside the £16,000 Arts Council funding.
