UPDATE: Road reopens after police incident at Brighton Marina

The road into Brighton Marina has reopened to traffic after a police incident earlier this evening (Wednesday).

The road had been closed for several hours as police responded to reports of a distressed teenager on a footbridge.

Speaking earlier this evening a Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services were called at 2.48pm on Wednesday (February 1) and are currently talking to a teenage boy in a distressed state on a footbridge in Marina Way leading to Marine Drive, Brighton.

“The road into Brighton Marina is currently closed.

“There are no further details available at this time.”

The incident comes one week after a 17-year-old boy died after falling from a bridge at the Marina.
