Cinema manager Ross McLaughlin said: “While we’re desperate to welcome our lovely customers back through our doors, it looks like that may not be able to happen for at least another couple of months so we thought the next best thing would be to keep connected with Worthing and bring some new films in to help people through this lockdown through our own temporary streaming service.

“We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the smaller independent distributors who kept new films releasing after the first lockdown. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to repay their help by teaming up with them to stream films that we may not usually be able to play in Worthing.”

Films currently available on the streaming service include the Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo and Michael Caine family favourite Come Away, the Nicolas Cage thriller Willy’s Wonderland, documentary Coup 53, award-winning animation Away, and the Andrea Riseborough Egyptian-set drama Luxor.

“British cinemas enjoyed their busiest years since the early 1970s in the two years prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Reports of the death of cinema are greatly exaggerated. We’ve been very encouraged by the number of people that have visited to safely watch a film with us over the last few months, and once we’re allowed to reopen again we know we’ll get to welcome back even more. Nothing can replace the magic of getting lost in a film on the big screen. We’ve got some very exciting years ahead of us at The Dome.”

Films can be rented for 48 hours through The Dome Cinema’s website at www.domecinema.co.uk where a viewing link will be emailed to customers.
