Littlehampton Museum looks back to pre-historic era

IT’S time to look to the future and plan for a half-time activity focused on the pre-historic era.

Littlehampton Museum is once again hosting its popular fossil walks on the town’s West Beach this week.

They are aimed at children aged seven and upwards, who are fascinated by fossils, and will be led by geology experts helping them to search the West Beach area for specimens to treasure.

All children must be accompanied by an adult, and suitable footwear and clothing must be worn, to combat the likelihood of windy conditions at the seaside.

There are two sessions, on tomorrow (Tuesday, February 14), from 10-11am and on Thursday, from noon-1pm.

Places are free, but are expected to be booked up very quickly.

For more information about the suitability of this event for their child, or to book a place, families are asked to contact museum staff, telephone 01903 738100 or e-mail [email protected].

Councillor Joyce Bowyer, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council’s community resources committee, said: “What a fabulous excuse to get outside and explore our local beaches – be sure to wrap up warm and keep those eyes peeled!”

The museum itself is open from Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm and on Saturday, from 10.30am-4.30pm.

Admission is free.
