Ninfield Flower Group

MEMBERS of Ninfield Flower Group recently gathered together for a celebration dinner at Cooden Beach Golf Club to mark the group's 30th Anniversary.

The group invited Barbara Harris, former chairman of the NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies), Elsie Chaplin, chairman Sussex Area NAFAS and Pam Gibson, vice chairman Sussex Area, to join the members for this very special occasion.

In her address, chairman Christine Purkess described the early years of the club, the changes it has seen and how it has grown to a record membership of about 50.

The group meets monthly and meetings are a mixture of demonstrations and workshops. The group holds biennnial flower festivals and recently donated 2,100 to local charities, including 1,700 to the Sussex Air Ambulance Appeal.

She looked forward to the future and expressed her hopes for the continued success of the group, following the maxim of mixing fun and friendship with flowers.
