Chichester Festival for Music, Dance & Speech chairman Alan Rodger has confirmed the 68th festival will run once again with live performances at venues throughout Chichester and Bognor Regis.

Alan said: “Running the festival in our normal way was not possible in 2021, but the 2022 live Festival proved to be a great success particularly with the dance classes which were adjudicated by Jacquie Storey. Unfortunately, we had no choir section in 2022 due to the ongoing risk from Covid-19, but, now the section is up and running again, we are hoping for many entries in 2023.

“The full CFMDS 2023 syllabus is available to download from our new website where you can also enter the 68th annual festival: https://www.cfmds.org.uk

“We are offering more than 460 different performing arts classes within speech, drama, classical guitars, adult & junior singing, dance, strings, woodwind, recorders, brass, pianoforte, choirs, orchestras, bands and percussion, at venues throughout Chichester and Bognor Regis from February through to March.

"Entries need to be received by Wednesday, November 30.

“We have, as always, engaged the services of 11 exceptional professional adjudicators to encourage and inspire candidates in all of the sections.

"I am also delighted to announce that a live Festival Gala Concert will take place at the Minerva Theatre on Sunday, March 26 where we will be showcasing and celebrating outstanding performers from each section.

"Please encourage as many friends, family and pupils who are involved in the performing arts to enter one or more of the classes on offer and we hope to see as many of you as possible at our Festival in February and March 2023.”

The Chichester Festival for Music, Dance and Speech was founded in 1954. Since then, the festival has provided a platform for thousands of singers, musicians, dancers, actors and public speakers to demonstrate and grow their skills. Many competitors have gone on to build careers in their chosen profession, such as Tim Rumsey, who has now graduated from the Royal College of Music.
