Woods, a local independent and family owned travel service, is still going strong, despite rumours to the contrary.

Speculation had circulated of a national takeover, as the industry suffered the knock-on effect of lockdown travel restrictions and the cost-of-living crisis.

But rumours of major changes behind the family operated coach service are not true, say the owners.

Speaking on behalf of all the team at Woods Travel, including drivers and office staff, Kristy and Tina said: “We have been fortunate enough to make it through these trying times, and our thoughts are with the many businesses in the UK who were forced to close their doors.

“Specifically, in the coach operator sector, many family-run businesses have been taken over by larger companies looking to expand. There has recently been an intensive marketing campaign by a national company to introduce their new brand which has caused some confusion as they own a company with a very similar name to ours based in Leicestershire.

“We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our customers and potential customers that we have not been taken over, nor have we sold Woods Travel.”

The firm will be staying independent, offering first class day trips and holidays by coach and private coach hire as well as operating an ABTA bonded travel agency specialising in all types of cruising holidays.

They added: “Although it has taken some time to bounce back, it is great to see, not just us, but the industry as whole come back so strongly from such uncertain times.

“We are very happy to see so many of our loyal customers continuing to choose to travel with us and reconnecting with one another through our day excursions (pick up points between Worthing and Chichester) and coach tour holidays. With glowing reviews, it is safe to say that 2023 is shaping up to be what everyone here at Woods has been hoping for.”

Woods Travel began life in 1971 and its customers have always been the focus, offering superb customer service and even a door-to-door experience.

Family run

The firm is a second-generation family run business. That means each customer is treated as an individual, with one-to-one support when required, from chatting through options before planning your trip to answering questions as your holiday draws closer. You can even speak to them face-to-face at the Bognor Regis sales office.

“We would like to thank our customers and partners for their trust, continued support and custom. Woods has been in business for 52 years this year. Here is to the next 52 years of providing a complete travel service to our wonderful customers.”
