When Lydia Woodman found out that a small pet supply shop where she groomed dogs was closing she decided to open her own salon in the Norfolk Square space.

Lydia said: "I’ve been grooming dogs at the pet supply store in 48 Norfolk Square for a year now and I’ve built up a large client base of dogs who come for regular grooms.

"When I found out the shop was closing and I’d be out of a job, I thought why not turn bad news into an amazing future? And I decided to finally chase my dream, take over the shop and turn it into Woofmans dog grooming salon."

Lydia, 23, funded the business by selling her car.

She added: "I’ve always wanted to have my own salon, so I had to give everything I have to make it a success. That’s meant giving up some things, but it’ll be worth it in the long run when I’m grooming lots of Brighton’s dogs all day every day. I’ll be the happiest I’ve ever been."

Lydia currently grooms the dogs of Instagram influencers, world-famous rock musicians, actors and local business people, all of whom have already snapped up appointments for their fur babies for when Woofmans opens on Tuesday, September 22.
