Post Office in Brighton to close for three-week refurbishment
A new coffee shop will be opening as part of a refurbished Brighton Post Office.
The Woodbourne Avenue Post Office will temporarily close for modernisation on Wednesday, May 5 at 5.30pm and the branch is due to re-open on Thursday, May 27 at 1pm.
Following the refit, the Post Office will be open for longer, from 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm on Saturday. The branch will re-open under a new postmaster.
A Post Office spokesman confirmed: "The premises where the Post Office is, is undergoing a complete refurbished. It will be a coffee shop, some retail and a Post Office counter alongside the retail counter."
During the closure, alternative branches include County Oak Post Office, 350 Carden Avenue, Brighton, and Hollingbury Post Office, 148 Preston Drove, Brighton.
Graham Brander, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work. The safety of our customers is of paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily. The new-look branch will be open longer hours than before.”
The spokesman confirmed the mini market next door is a completely separate business and is not part of the refurbishment plans.
