Mother and daughter event business booming

A MOTHER and daughter team are one of the latest businesses to grace Horsham, contributing to Manns of Cranleigh’s 125-year celebrations last week.

Splendid Occasions, a party and event planning business, was a roaring success, organising a free vintage tea party on Saturday May 5, using their array of retro props, bunting and vintage china.

Dee Child, who founded of Splendid Occasions with her daughter Hannah, said: “The whole day was a tremendous success, we had people queuing solidly from 10am until 4pm, despite the rain.

“It was wonderful to see all our hard work finally come together, my team of retro-style waitresses served well over 500 guests on the day who enjoyed a free cup of tea and slice of cake while listening to our live Jazz band. We regularly organise tea parties for birthday’s and special occasions catering for 20-30 people at a time, so to put on a tea party on this huge scale feels like quite an achievement for Splendid Occasions.”

She started the business in 2011 after years spent working in events, wedding planning and marketing, after which she decided to offer a party planning service with a difference.

Although specialising in vintage tea parties, Splendid Occasions also creates bespoke, tailor-made parties and events, whether it’s an intimate gathering, a garden party with friends and family, a big birthday bash or a sophisticated hen party.
