Olly and Simon describe CrossFit as constantly varied, high-intensity and functional movement. It is a popular sport to be enjoyed within a class environment to help athletes build their endurance.

The duo started working together after the first lockdown due to coronavirus. They were able to fully focus on their vision and start building the future of CrossFit FFH during the pandemic. It wasn’t until October that they got the keys to the unit on Diplocks Way. Two months later and they have turned the location from a warehouse into a CrossFit gym.

Simon said it has been a ‘super exciting roller coaster journey’ setting up the gym.

He said, “The actual decision to open the gym was a simple one. We whole heartily believe in the CrossFit training methodology and know others will like it too, if they don’t already. There is a lot of ups and downs with starting a gym or any business for that matter. One thing that has been essential is a good team all working together.”

Classes have been adapted to ensure they are Covid-compliant, and equipment is regularly cleaned with designated cleaning stations throughout the gym.

Olly and Simon said, “CrossFit is for everyone and anyone! If you want to better your physical performance, change your body, or learn new skills, this sport is for you. It’s fully adaptable for all body types, all mobility levels and all ages.”

Simon said, “You will perform movements in your training that will benefit you in everyday life. We offer coached classes where you will learn a variety of movements and skills. These movements take time and practise to conquer, but there is a real sense of achievement when you finally crack it.”

Olly is the head coach at CrossFit FFH. He said, “CrossFit is a broad sport allowing you to learn gymnastic movements alongside lifting techniques. It will push your strength ability and increase your mobility, while testing your fitness levels.”

In terms of the future Simon said things are ‘unclear and uncertain’.

He said, “We need to make sure that we follow the guidance from the government and continue to offer the best service to our amazing community. We honestly believe that CrossFit is something that improves fitness of all ages and the best fight against the virus is to improve your health by exercising while eating a good balanced diet.”

The gym is currently offering a free trial class for new members interested in joining, you can find out more information about timetables, opening times and memberships at crossfitffh.com
