One in seven Arun jobs have gone

ALMOST 15 per cent of Arun District Council’s workforce has been shed in the last year.

Figures released by the Local Government Association this week show that by not filling vacancies, one in five posts, or 14.8 per cent, of jobs at the council were lost.

The news follows Arun’s employment freeze, part of a package of measures aimed a saving £1.3m over three years, announced last year.

The latest figures put the number at 68, from 459 staff members in the first quarter of 2010, to 391 in the same period this year.
