Staff at Thakeham Pre-School said they were “over the moon” after receiving the rating from inspector Janet Thouless.

In her report, published on June 2, Ms Thouless said: “Staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the experiences that they provide for children. They use highly effective teaching methods and interact exceptionally well with children.”

This was the second time Thakeham had received an ‘outstanding’ rating, having previously been inspected in March 2011. Staff said they were pleased they had not allowed standards to slip in the five years since.

Ms Thouless said children developed “exceptional skills for their future learning” as they were prepared for the step up to primary school.

Thakeham Pre-School Committee member and parent Ally Baker said the rating was “a very well-deserved achievement”.

She added: “We are delighted with the excellent feedback from Ofsted. The standard of teaching is excellent and the report highlights how happy the children are in the setting.”

Manager Sharon Rance said her team went “above and beyond” to achieve another ‘outstanding’ rating. She added: “This endorsement from Ofsted recognises the determination, the passion and the enthusiasm that my team has put in to ensure that every area of care and education is provided at the highest level for our children and their families.”
