Spokeswoman Meena Winter said: “A few highlights from a programme that is packed with well-known and emerging storytelling and performance artists include an evening with BAFTA-nominated, multi award-winning author, broadcaster and poet Lemn Sissay. Come join in this author talk at St Mary in the Castle in Hastings on Tuesday, October 18 at 7pm.

“On Wednesday, October 19 at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, there will be an evening of no-holds-barred tales that will certainly have audiences ripping up the rule book. The tantalising Timberlina will host ICON, an uproarious LGBTQIA+ evening, introducing Barbara Brownskirt and Tom Marshman for some memorable, moving and avant garde fun. This will take place at St Mary in the Castle on Friday, October 21 from 7.30pm.

“On Saturday, October 22, after a screening of How to Train your Dragon (St Mary in the Caste, 10.00am), Lauren and Cressida Cowell (author of How to Train your Dragon), will discuss the art and craft of creative writing.

“On Sunday, October 16, starting at Warrior Square Gardens, Gobbledegook Theatre will take members of the public on a site- responsive sound walk, encouraging audiences to listen to the geological processes of the earth.

"There will also be an opportunity to have an undersea interactive and virtual reality experience with the Living Cost at Stade Hall on Saturday, October 22. On the same evening, look out for local artists ZEROH who will be driving around the streets and estates of Hastings and St Leonards in their beast, a magical one-off digital creation. And of course, there are once again fabulous storytellers for children in schools and nurseries, a first for Hastings Storytelling Festival . Choreographer Anusha Subramanyam, author Bali Rai and 3D creative artists, Radiator Arts, will run a series of workshops in schools and nurseries throughout the week. Members of the public will be able to see Bali Rai at Hastings Library on Saturday, October 15 and Anusha Subramanyam will also be joining Children’s Day.

“On Wednesday, October 19, educators Alex Etchart and Ruth England will be running an online workshop sharing LGBTQIA+ resources and stories with teachers as part of 18 Hours’ and Global Learning London’s You, Me, Story!

"Not forgetting the ever-amazing finale at Children’s Day at the Stade (October 23) which is a fabulous opportunity for families to enjoy top-quality free puppet shows, storytelling, performances, workshops and a fun parade.
