Glen Richardson, of The Brighton Beach Boys, released the song to raise funds for Carden Nursery and Primary School, County Oak Avenue.

Sing a Song of Christmas is intended not just as a way of raising cash for Carden school Parent Teacher Association (PTA), but also to raise awareness of funding issues in UK schools.

Glen said: “Carden is a building much in need of repairs, with draughty windows and carpets duct-taped to stave off the need for replacements.

“The situation is no better nationally, with 83% of schools losing out next year because of government cuts and more than 16,000 schools set to have less cash per pupil in 2020 than they had in 2015, according to the Save Our Schools campaign.

“With an election coming up it’s important that these things are at the forefront of people’s minds, so we wanted to do something fun to raise money and awareness - and hopefully some Christmas spirit”! The single can be found on Youtube, Apple Music, and Deezer.

Glen has also started a CrowdFunder alongside the single to raise money for the school PTA and to subsidise school trips and classroom equipment.
