Heathfield resident says vaccine roll out ‘isn’t good enough’

A woman from Heathfield says residents have been ‘very badly served’ when it comes to the Covid vaccine progress.

Jenny Thomas has a number of friends over the age of 80 who she says still haven’t heard anything about getting their vaccine.

She said, “It is particularly frustrating when we hear other people in the surrounding areas, much younger than us, have had their vaccinations.

“It has been difficult to get any information but I understand we may have to go to Uckfield to have it done. This is not very satisfactory for all the elderly people of Heathfield.”

In response to this, a spokesperson for Heathfield Parish Council said, “The Parish Council have been working hard to push for local residents to have the vaccine and a number of people in priority 1 have now received their appointment for their vaccination.

“We were advised by NHS Sussex Health and Care Partnership that ‘We expect that all of Heathfield Surgery’s patients aged over 80 will be vaccinated by the end of this week’.”
