No coronavirus deaths for five days in East Sussex hospitals

Figures from NHS England show East Sussex trusts have not recorded a coronavirus-related death since somebody sadly passed away in Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust on June 21.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust last recorded a coronavirus-related death on June 17.

NHS England figures only include people who have died in hospital with coronavirus mentioned on their death certificate, so do not account for deaths in care homes, hospices and other settings outside of hospital.

A total of 248 people have now sadly died in trusts supporting East Sussex, up to yesterday afternoon (June 26), broken down as follows:

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust - 144

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust - 86

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust - 18

There are now 1,267 confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in Brighton and Hove and East Sussex.

A total of 28,634 people have now sadly died in hospitals in England, but that figure is significantly higher when including care homes, hospices and other settings.
