Number of Covid cases in Eastbourne
Public Health England data shows there are 772 cases per 100,000 people – the national average is 481 cases.
The total of 801 is an increase of 310 compared to the previous week.

Hide AdAnd the total number of positive Covid cases in Eastbourne since the pandemic began last year is 3,192 and there have been 88 coronavirus-related deaths registered up until December 18.
In neighbouring Wealden there are 637 cases per 100,000 people with 1,029 current cases– up by 385 the previous week.
Since the start of the pandemic there have been 4,577 total cases to January 5 and there were 159 coronavirus related deaths up until December 18. In Hastings, the number of cases has dropped slightly.
There are currently 797 cases – down by 75 compared to the previous week.

Hide AdDarrell Gale, the county’s director of public health, continues to urge people to stay home to protect the NHS and themselves.
He said, “Hospitals are experiencing significant pressures due to demand on beds from the increased number of Covid-19 cases now being higher than it was in April during the first peak.
“As we enter 2021, I urge everyone to continue to do everything they can to look after themselves and others – by working together while staying physically apart, we can all help to control the spread of coronavirus.”
