Sussex Covid-19 vaccinations: Here are the latest figures as roll-out passes milestone

Sussex has passed a major milestone in its roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination.

More than 200,000 doses of the vaccine have now been administered to residents across the county, according to NHS England.

A total of 109,834 people have received their first dose of the vaccination, as of January 28 – 109,220 under-80s and 81,614 people aged over 80.

That means 73 per cent of the population over the age of 80 have received their first jab.

A further 11,675 people have been given the second dose, including 7,762 people over the age of 80 – 6.9 per cent of the population in that age range.

Overall, 202,509 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered between December 8, 2020, and January 28.

According to the Office for National Statistics, Sussex has the fourth highest number of residents aged over 80 in England, with 111,804.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson set a target of 15million people to have been offered the vaccine by February 15 – those aged 70 and over, healthcare workers and people required to shield.

Nationwide, 79.7 per cent of over-80s have been offered the jab.

A total of 8,977,329 doses have been administered across the country.
