East Sussex school closes immediately due to parent’s coronavirus symptoms

An East Sussex school has made the decision to close immediately after a parent of students is said to have coronavirus symptoms.

The Haven Voluntary Aided Church Of England Methodist Primary School, in Atlantic Drive, Eastbourne, said today (Friday, July 17) it has closed and that the safety of staff and pupils is ‘paramount’.

A school spokesperson said, “We were made aware that a parent of children at the school was experiencing covid-19 symptoms and, with the safety of our pupils and staff paramount, took the decision to close the school immediately.

“We have taken advice from Public Health England and a decision whether to open for the last few days of the term next week will be made this weekend.”
