Moderna jab now offered at Brighton Centre vaccination hub

The Brighton Centre has become one of only two hubs in the South East to begin offering the newly-approved Moderna vaccine.

The vaccine, which is the third to be rolled-out in the UK, was used for the first time at the hub yesterday.

Donna Lamb, the chief nurse at the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I’m really delighted to be able to tell you that we are one of two vaccination centres in the south east which will now be offering the Moderna vaccine from today at the Brighton Centre.

“This is yet another step forward on the really positive journey to vaccinating the population of Sussex.

“So I would really encourage you, if you are over 45, or if you are part of one of the other eligible cohorts, to please go online and make your appointment and come along to the Brighton Centre.

“If you are due your second vaccine and you have an appointment for that, we are also offering the AstraZeneca vaccine also at the Brighton Centre.”

The Moderna vaccine, along with the Pfizer jab, offers an alternative to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged under 30, after concerns about possible links with rare blood clots.

As of April 11, a total of 119,663 people in Brighton had received their first dose of the vaccine.
