The shopping complex beat 500 other candidates to win the The Green World Award by The Green Organisation for its commitment to supporting the local environment in a glamorous ceremony in Vietnam.

The award specifically recognised Churchill Square’s Community Days initiative, which saw teams from the centre spend a day helping out with community causes.

Teams undertook a variety of environmental tasks, helping plant flowers, trim trees and redesign gardens for a variety of different charities.

Churchill Square also won an honoraryy certificate for social responsibility at the 2019 ICSC Solal Marketing Awards.

This award recognised the effect of the shopping centre’s Drop Your Perception Campaign.

Organised with charity Ditch Your Label, a charity which helps support young people negatively affected by bullying and prejudice, the campaign included a series of gender-free fashion shows to help challenge traditional ideas about gender identity.

Mark Buchanan-Smith Director of Churchill Square said:“We’re incredibly honoured and humbled to have won both of these awards. There was a great team effort behind each of these successes, and everyone involved should be proud of their contributions to these campaigns.

“The team at Churchill Square prides itself on being innovative and a shopping centre that is not afraid of tackling important topical issues, not just in the local community but on an international scale too, and we couldn’t be happier with the impact that we made on these fronts.”
