The beauty brand said Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, London and Brighton are all hotspots in the UK for veganism.

This comes as veganism grows in popularity; Veganuary said a record 300,000 people had signed up this year and the launch of Greggs' vegan sausage roll hit the headlines.

The Body Shop said Brighton is already 'a well-known vegan hotspot', offering the most events and boasting 96 vegan-friendly restaurants.

It said: "Brighton already has a reputation for being a hot-spot for vegans, so it comes as no surprise that Brighton offers the most amount of restaurants and events for vegans to enjoy. "Brighton offers six vegan events per person, compared to the three which Edinburgh and Manchester offer, two vegan events in Glasgow, and London which only offers less than one vegan event per person. "With an average of six vegan restaurants and nine vegan events to choose from per person, if you’re looking to snack on deep-friend seitan and attend a protest fighting against animal testing, then get yourself down to the South Coast and join the leading vegan activist city in the UK."

Tim Barford, manager and founder of vegan festival VegfestUK, said: “We love Brighton. It’s our second home. The atmosphere and people really make Brighton, it’s like a mini Ibiza when the sun is shining!

"Brighton has always been ahead of the game when it comes to veganism. Everyone just gets it and the vegan choice in Brighton is as good as anywhere on the planet.

"We love bringing VegfestUK to Brighton. We started in 2009 in Hove and in 2015 moved to The Brighton Centre. The team there are really helpful.

"Brighton was our first choice when choosing a location all those years ago for VegfestUK, after we launched in Bristol and before we took the show to London Olympia too.

"We are excited about coming back again in March and it is no surprise that The Body Shop found Brighton as the best place for vegans to connect as we see this every year at VegfestUK.”
