Preview: Limehouse Lizzy, White Rock Theatre, Hastings, July 15, 9pm

HOT on the heels of Killer Queen - a tribute to the band led by the legendary Freddie Mercury - the White Rock Theatre is set to host yet another tribute act next week.

But don’t let that put you off - Limehouse Lizzy are guaranteed to rock your socks off.

The outfit has been hailed as “the best Thin Lizzy tribute band in the world”, and it’s a claim they seem to be able to back up.

Lads mag Loaded declared Limehouse Lizzy ‘The Best Tribute Band in the World’ whilst Guitarist Magazine even rewarded them with the title of ‘Live Band of the Year’ in 2001.

And the ticket sales speak for themselves, with venues regularly selling out, so keen are the punters to watch the hairy rockers in action.

Leading the pack is bassist, vocalist and ‘supreme entertainer’ Wayne Ellis who is, apparently, “as close as you can possibly get to the late, great Philip Lynott himself”.

He will be joined by members Andy Fox, Greg Alcock and Tim Read, playing classic Thin Lizzy hits, including Jailbreak.

They may not be the real deal, but as both the much-admired frontmen Freddie Mercury and Philip Lynott are long since departed, these tribute bands are close as Hastings is ever going to get.

But if their previous reviews are anything to go by, then Limehouse Lizzy come pretty darn close.

Tickets £15, available from the White Rock.
