114 homes for campus

Approval has been given to more than a hundred new homes in Bognor Regis.

The backing by Arun District Council will allow the 114 properties to be built on two locations within the current Bognor Regis Community College campus.

One site of 0.76 hectares is to the south of the college's playing fields. The other '“ 2.04ha '“ is north-east of the playing fields and reached through Westloats Lane.

Four out of every ten of the proposed homes will be affordable properties. They will be divided evenly between flats and houses.

West Sussex County Council put forward the plans as part of the major changes taking place at the campus. These will see the college's lower school demolished and all the learning concentrated in one new building. This is well underway at a cost of 40m.

Arun planning officer Keith Wheway, in approving the outline plans, said: "The proposed development would reflect the character of existing residential properties in the locality.

"The layout demonstrates that landscaping and public open space can be included within the layouts while accommodating the number of dwellings proposed."
