Allotments'not for sale'

Some home-buyers next door to the plots in The Nurseries had been told the site was set to be developed.

But Cllr Jean Findley Dodd told the annual electors' meeting the rumour was false.

Aldwick Parish Council owned the freehold for the site of 21 plots and had no intention of selling the land.

The freehold was acquired from Arun District Council in the mid-1990s when Arun sold off the derelict horticultural nurseries which had stood on the site for several decades.

Some of the land was turned into housing, alongside the allotments, with a play area created on much of the rest.
