Another £500raised towards £10,000 target

Fundraisers in the Bognor Regis and Felpham branch of the Arthritis Research Campaign are well on their way to bringing in £10,000 this year.

The hard-working members received a further boost for their efforts when they received 500 from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The cheque recognised the tremendous support given to the branch by the Elmer Entertainers and was one of the bank's community cashback awards.

Every year, the Entertainers stage a concert for the ARC's benefit. The combined efforts of the Entertainers and the branch committee members in ensuring the concerts are a sell-out played a large part in the award being given. Its amount almost matched the latest concert's profits.

The Entertainers have pledged their continuing support of the charity by fixing the date for their next concert on its behalf for February 9, 2008.

Branch chairman Bubbles Simmonds said she appreciated the backing of the Entertainers as well as the hard work of her committee and the many loyal supporters whose contributions ensured the branch stayed among the top fundraisers in the charity's region.

Its ever-popular jazz and strawberry tea on July 15 '“ the next event '“ ensured the branch's 10,000 self-imposed yearly target was well within reach, she added.
