Anti-bully week at Bexhill High

Bexhill High School marked National Anti-Bullying Week with a special focus on abuse online.

This was launched with a Cyber-Bullying Parent Support Evening to inform parents of the risks for young people when they are using technology and how to keep their children safe.

Peer Mentors and the Parent Support Advisor Team were on hand to discuss support services for students and families regarding any bullying issues.

Students from the Peer Mentoring Team attended the East Sussex Cyber Bullying Conference at Tideway School,Newhaven, and as a result produced an assembly held last week.

These assemblies coincide with the new extended opening times of the Health and Well-Being Drop-In Service available to students at each site. Adults from this service, including the School Nurses and Connexions, are also being introduced to the pupils during these assemblies.

Penny Jones, Additional Needs Support Co-ordinator at Bexhill High, said:"By taking part in Anti-Bullying Week, students are able to gain the confidence and knowledge to get the right support if they need it.

''It is also a good opportunity for staff to receive up-to-date information about the issues affecting young people now."
