Ashburnham and Penhurst WI are meeting on July 15, 7.30pm at the Village Hall. This month they welcome Graham Bell with stories of smuggling in Sussex. August 19 they will hear from Sir Jermey Cooke, a high court judge, speaking about the criminal justice system.

This month’s village lunch is on July 17, 12.30pm in the Village Hall. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in our villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. Transport can be arranged if needed. The August lunch on August 21 will be held at Penhurst Retreat Centre. For more information or to book a place, give Janet a ring on 01424 892311.

The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in Ashburnham (by the chapel) on Thursday July 18, 9.50am - 10.10am.

The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club is meeting on July 22 with a visit to a member’s garden. The August meeting will be back at Ashburnham Church Hall on August 27, 7.30pm where members will be discussing summer pruning. For further information, please contact Rhod Jones on 892689.
