Attempted robbery at a Hastings Post Office

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man attempted to rob a Post Office in Hastings.

A man went into the Post Office at the junction of St George’s Road and Vicarage Road at 2.10pm on Wednesday (January 27) demanded money and threatened a staff member, who refused to give him anything.

The man then left the scene. No one was hurt in the incident.

Police believe there may be a second suspect who was seen acting suspiciously outside the Post Office.

The first man is described as white, aged in his early to mid 20s, 5’8”, slim and was wearing a blue and white scarf, covering the lower half of his face, a grey pullover hoodie with the hood pulled up and trainers.

The second man outside is described as 5’10” and had his face covered.

He was wearing a shiny blue puffa-style coat with the hood up, blue jeans and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Paul Graham of Sussex Police said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery or saw the man acting suspiciously outside the post office to contact us.”
