Author offers pupils a few tips

WESTERN Road School in Lewes enjoyed a visit from author Adrian Townsend.

A special assembly was arranged for the former headteacher who gave up teaching in 1998 to become a writer.

Letchimi Nair-Wall, literacy co-ordinator, said: 'Parents have told me that the children enjoyed it very much.

'Adrian talked about the writing profession and read from one of his books.

'He gave ideas about how they could get inspiration for writing.

'The next day he came back and sold some of his books, which the children love.'

The author, pictured at the school, told pupils how he became inspired to write Gran's Gang books after seeing some boys kick a ball near a traffic jam one day.

Adrian, who lives in Oxford with his wife and two daughters, is writing another Gran's Gang story at the moment.
