BAFTA nomination for Horsham playwright

The Cold War thriller has been put forward for several awards with playwrights Matt Charman, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen receiving nominations for the film’s screenplay.
The movie stars Tom Hanks and is directed by acclaimed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.

Hide AdBorn in Crawley, 36-year-old Matt grew up in Southwater and attended the Forest School and Collyer’s.
His first play, A Night at the Dogs, was shown at the Capitol and was based on a part-time job he had washing cars at a repair garage in Ashington.
Matt has also written books, television series and screenplays.
Bridge of Spies was released in October to critical acclaim.

Hide AdOnly recently New York City’s Museum of Modern Art named the movie as one of the films released this year that is ‘likely to have lasting historical significance’.
In November last year Matt told the West Sussex County Times that flying to meet acclaimed director Steven Spielberg and discuss his script was a “dream”.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards are held in London in february.
