Battle Abbey shoebox appeal

Children at Battle Abbey Prep School been thinking of disadvantaged children in other countries who don't know what it is like to receive a Christmas present.

Pupils wrapped up shoe boxes with Christmas paper and filled them with gifts.

Head teacher Judy Clark explained: "We have been involved with this project for several years now and it's wonderful to see the generous response from our very fortunate children.

"They can't bear the idea that there are children in the world who don't get a present on Christmas day and are determined to do their bit to ensure that at least some of them do."

The 92 boxes were collected and distributed by the Operation Christmas Child charity and Battle Abbey pupils and staff hope they will bring some joy this Christmas to the children of Belarus.
