Battle Jehovah’s Witnesses

THE 70 members of the Battle congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses are looking forward to attending their three day annual convention this year at a new, special, venue - the prestigious, award winning, Brighton & Hove Albion FC AMEX Stadium at Falmer - in a few weeks time.

The Witnesses have out grown The Brighton Centre, where they have met for the last 17 years, so the new stadium has come on stream at just the right time and Jehovah’s Witnesses, and other interested ones, will be one of the first groups to make use of the full facilities making this an historic occasion.

An attendance of well over 8,000 is anticipated.

The Bible-based convention, with a theme of ‘Safeguard Your Heart’ (Prov 4:23) will be one of 41 such events held throughout the UK this year (including many in foreign languages), and hundreds worldwide - in 236 countries.

The extra seating capacity at Falmer will enable Witnesses from other locations to meet with them too - from South London, the Kent borders and just into Hampshire. There are 133,000 Witnesses throughout the UK.

Rodney Butler, an elder, who lives in Chiltern Drive, said: “We are looking forward to the change in venue this year.

“The AMEX is a fantastic venue so it should be really special.

“We always enjoy these opportunities to mix with like-minded people who respect the Bible as God’s Word and who feel that even in this fast moving world the Bible’s standards are still the best to live by.”

Local residents may have recently received a personal printed invitation from someone calling at their door as part of a special campaign to invite all interested ones. All members of the public are welcome to attend any part of the three day programme, without charge - and no collections are ever taken.

Session times are from 9.20am to 4.55pm each day. Convention Friday June 29 - Sunday July 1.
