Bexhill ATC CO on "Cloud Nine"

A BEXHILL man is on cloud nine after passing the Air Training Corps' Officers' Senior Course at RAF College, Cranwell in Lincolnshire.

Flying Officer Andy Izzard, 45, successfully completed the week-long course which was held at the ATC adult training facility , part of Headquarters Air Cadets.

Andy, who is the recently-appointed Officer Commanding No. 2262 (Bexhill) Squadron, ATC, said: "The course was really interesting and covered everything from personnel, budgets and health and safety to media and communications.

"It was hugely rewarding to be nominated for the course and to learn about the latest developments in the Air Training Corps.

"I will always remember being at RAF Cranwell - it is both home of the Royal Air Force and HQ Air Cadets."

Andy was one of 15 officers on the nationally-run course which is managed by Squadron Leader Ray Pelcot.

Squadron Leader Pelcot said: "I am very proud to say that Flying Officer Izzard flew through the course and is a credit to the Air Training Corps."

Flying Officer Izzard is a qualified dispensing optician with local practice Barraclough, Stiles and Partners and as a business owner helps his wife Margaret run a successful beauty salon.

The Bexhill ATC squadron currently offers a diverse range of activities from flying and gliding to marksmanship, adventure training and expeditions as well as BTECS and first aid to 30 young people aged between 13 and 20.
