Bexhill College springs a surprise in Hastings

BEXHILL College students surprised Hastings shoppers recently by performing a flash mob dance in aid of Children In Need (right).

A flash mob can be described as a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform a routine for a brief time and then disperse.

More than 120 students and staff of the college, including principal Karen Hucker, spent three weeks rehearsing the dance which was choreographed by dance teacher Lucy Ayling and students Josh Noon and Billy Thompson.

Two coachloads of participators arrived at the pedestrianised area of Wellington Place and blended in among the town’s shoppers.

A piece of music began playing through a speaker system and when the chorus kicked in, all staff and students broke into their perfectly choreographed dance. While some wore Pudsey ears and scarves, other staff members offered collection buckets to the on-looking public. The dance lasted approximately three minutes and the college raised £600 for Children In Need.
