A bomb disposal unit was called after reports of a hand grenade found in the loft of a house in Brighton.

Sussex Police said: "About 10.30am on Tuesday, May 7, police received a report of a device – possibly a hand grenade – found in the loft of a house in Newick Road, Brighton.

"The house has been evacuated, and a small cordon has been set up in the road, which is currently partially closed, as a precaution. No other homes have been evacuated.

"The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) has been requested to attend the scene.
