Boris Johnson stops by for lunch at iconic café

LONDON mayor Boris Johnson was guest of honour at an iconic café in Littlehampton on Sunday (October 19).

The politician visited the East Beach Café on with his family for a spot of lunch.

The eatery was packed full of diners during Mr Johnson’s trip to the town.

Café owner Jane Wood said that Mr Johnson– who was a former MP before becoming the capital’s mayor in 2008 – was a welcome addition to the lunchtime clientele.

She said: “A lot of people were very happy to see him.

“He is really quite a character.”

Jane added that Mr Johnson is not the café’s only famous guest to stop by for a bite to eat.

She explained that there are a few regular customers who come like to dine at the café – although she said she would never reveal just who the celebrities were.

But she did hint at why the café was so popular with celebrities.

She explained that the building was going to feature in the top 100 most influential architectural buildings of the past century, later this year.

“The Twentieth Century Society is producing a book and the building being featured for 2008 is the East Beach Café,” Jane said.
