Kathy's Make and Take event is being held between 10am and 12.30pm at Felpham Methodist Church in Felpham Way. Everyone who goes along will have the chance to make three greeting cards using different techniques for 5. Under 16s must bring an adult.

"I teach card making skills to people at my home every other week in aid of breast cancer research," she said.

"The people from my classes '“ Julie, Sue and Jan '“ are going to be showing people how to make cards."

Kathy (51) began card making after she had a double mastectomy five years ago following chemotherapy.

She has suffered the blow of having another cancerous lump removed recently. She is taking an anti-cancer drug while doctors decide whether she should undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy depending on the results of a scan she underwent on Monday.

"I don't feel too bothered about the cancer coming back," explained Kathy, "because I always knew it would. I have a family history of breast cancer. All females on my grandfather's side have suffered from breast cancer to some extent. My mother died of it. My sister has had a lump removed with radiotherapy."

Kathy, of Roundle Avenue, said making cards provided the ideal therapy while she was undergoing treatment.

"You can lose yourself in putting the cards together. It's relaxing and it's good to see the final product," she stated. The cards add a personal touch to an individual's special occasion. Ready made cards will be on sale at her event.
