SAD NEWS: Sadly two of our residents have passed away, and the two funerals have taken place. The Service for Jack Surridge took place last Tuesday and the service for Juana Garrido Gometh was last Wednesday. Our thoughts and prayers are with both families and friends.

FIREMAN’S FETE: The sun shone down on the Fireman’s Fête on Sunday and lots of people turned out to support them. About £1,700 was raised after expenses, which is not bad for one afternoon.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS: School and most clubs have broken up for the summer holidays and will be back in September. Let’s hope the children have a lovely sunny and safe holiday and all teachers and leaders of groups have a well-earned rest.

CRICKET: Brede Cricket team have had a short season and won their last match, so well done.

FRIDAY JULY 29: Pilates with Laura at 9.15am Did you know Brede Farmers Market has been going since 2000 and is in Brede Village Hall from 10am to noon. You will find every week Charlie with his fruit and vegetables, dairy products from Redlays Farm Westfield, Farm fresh free range meat from Churn Farm, Ninfield, fish and shelfish from Botterills Rye, Game, smoked meat and fresh eggs from VG Game, bakery from Will’s Bakery Northiam, Kristen’s Homemade delicacies, Peter’s apples and apple juice, Lindy’s sweets, jams and chutneys and Anne’s beautiful hand crafted cards. Through the month you will find Andrew’s lovely perennial flowers, Angie’s Jewellery, Roger’s walking sticks, Jamie’s bird tables, Eric’s French Cheeses, Gill’s homemade soaps, Alan’s wood and things, Michael’s gift boxes, Trevor’s cobnut, Gary’s primary science and Jeann’s ice creams. Also of course you can sit and sample Brede Friendly Circle’s refreshments which are there every week. As you can see it is well worth a visit.

SATURDAY JULY 30: The Rainbow Trout has the live duo Mocking Jay from 8.30pm.

SUNDAY JULY 31: Church Services this morning are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125. At St George’s Church the Sung Eucharist starts at 9.30am and Father Martin can be reached on 01424 883408. The church’s website is http://www.stgeorgesbrede.org.uk The 10.30am service in the Methodist Church in Broad Oak will be by local arrangement today, Peggy Heim is the Pastoral Minister and can be contacted on 01424 422350.

MONDAY AUGUST 1: Yoga with Susan in Udimore Community Hall at 9.30am. Whist players will be in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm.

TUESDAY AUGUST 2: Pilates in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15am. Brede Painting for pleasure group meet at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall.

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3: Pilates with Laura in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15am.

THURSDAY AUGUST 4: Pilates with Laura is at 9.15am in Udimore Community Hall. Stretch and Tone with Sally in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am.

FRIDAY AUGUST 5: Pilates with Laura at 9.15am Brede Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall from 10am to noon and Brede Short Mat Bowlers will be in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm.

BOOT SALE: Bank Holiday Monday, August 29, the Red Lion Car Boot Sale. Take your unwanted items to sell from 9am until noon. Free pitches, free entrance. There are some trestle tables, it is first come, first served. Reserve a pitch by calling 01424 882188 or email [email protected] Site open at 8am for traders to set up.
