Brighton and Hove Muslim Forum treats homeless to Christmas lunch

A Brighton restaurant teamed up with a Muslim charity to put on a lunch for the homeless on Christmas Day.

The Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum (BHMF) together with A Taste of Sahara on Western Road offered free food to rough sleepers.

Sabri Ben Ameur owner of the Sahara Restaurant, said: “Christmas is one of our busiest times for us, but it makes me think about those who are homeless and alone. So again this year all of our staff decided with BHMF and Deen Relief to give our time on Christmas day and open the restaurant for the homeless.

"Our guests will receive a lovely Christmas lunch 'Sahra Style' with silver service, all for free. Nobody should be alone, unappreciated and we must look out for each other regardless of race, belief and culture.”

Tariq Jung, chair of the Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum, said: “We should always remember and reflect on the challenges in our society, as we see homelessness on the increase in our city and around the country. We can all do more to help others.
