Brighton and Hove 'way ahead of the national average' for top A-Level grades

Students in Brighton and Hove are celebrating their A-Level results today (Thursday), and there were plenty of success stories.

And provisional results show Brighton and Hove is way ahead of the national average for top grades.

In the city, 34.3 per cent of grades were A* to A – compared to 26.4 per cent nationally.

And 61.6 per cent were A* to B, compared to 52.7 per cent across the country.

98.7 per cent of exams taken received pass grades (A*-E), exceeding national figures

Cllr Dan Chapman, chair of Brighton and Hove City Council’s children, young people and skills committee, said: “In terms of high achieving A-level students we’re way ahead of the national average.

“This is also the sixth year running that Brighton and Hove’s overall pass rate is equal to or above national figures.
