A JustGiving page was set up by Trollburger owner Paul Clark, who said he wants to serve burgers and chips from his stand under the arches on Trafalgar Street for those less fortunate.

Writing on the JustGiving page, Mr Clark said: “So it’s Christmas. Personally, I don’t really care that much for it…But it’s a big deal for a lot of people and it can be heart breaking for those who simply are unable to join in the festivities at this time of year.

“I decided to forfeit my Christmas this year and instead open up the burger shack and serve up Christmassy burgers and chips, all made with quality organic and local ingredients to those who are less fortunate than myself.”

Mr Clark said he is going to serve burgers to the homeless and anyone else who might not have friends or family to go to, and for those who might not be able to afford dinner on Christmas day. Any surplus food or money raised will be donated to the homeless charity First Base in Hove.

“There will be no judgement, no need to prove how needy you are, no shame,” Mr Clark said.

Donors left messages of support on the JustGiving page, with one writitng: “Everyone should be able to benefit from the best burgers in Brighton, including our homeless neighbours. Well done you. If you need any non-monetary help with your mission, please let me know.”
